Colour and Body Shape Analysis, Wardrobe Edit and Personal Shopping

Hate to shop? Don’t have time? Need to look great?

With my help, you can have it all and get a wardrobe that is functional, flattering and comfortable. And if you need to look the part for a special occasion, a milestone birthday or a holiday, I can help there, too.

My bespoke package is tailored to your requirements. You tell me what you want and I make it happen! You’ll end up with a wardrobe that is easy to navigate, with items for every dress code and occasion. Plus, I can advise you on which colours and styles are most flattering on you.  My aim is to help you feel confident and the best version of yourself.

My Men’s Styling Package starts with a Zoom call to determine your needs, followed by a Wardrobe Edit either online or in person.  Ideally we use as much of your current wardrobe as possible but generally new items are required to fill in any gaps.

Here’s how it works:

Step 1

A 30 minute video call to enable me to gather information regarding your brief.  We’ll discuss lifestyle, budget, upcoming events and your style preferences.  Don’t worry if you aren’t sure of your style - I am here to help.

Step 2

Your 3 hour Wardrobe Edit. We begin with an informal chat to discuss your brief then we’ll do your Colour and Body Shape Analysis to find out which styles and shapes of clothes flatter you the most. Using items from your existing wardrobe we put together some stylish new outfits. I compile a list of items that I think you are missing.

Step 3

Following an agreed budget, I will research these items in preparation for your Personal Shopping appointment.

Step 4

We’ll start with a quick coffee to go through the list and make sure that we’re in agreement before heading to the stores to try on the items.

“This June, I spent six hours with Jan Lovelace, three in my home looking through and evaluating my wardrobe and three hours out in some lovely shops, discovering some brilliant clothes that made me look and feel great. Like most men, I’ve stuck to a similar ‘look’ for many years, mainly black and grey in my case. Jan showed me how I’ve tended to buy many duplicates and too many items in sales because they were ‘good value’. I may have wasted a lot of cash!

She made the point that less could be more, to look for quality  and to consider colours that better suited me. Navy blue seemed to work much better than black. I lacked a great blazer, needed a nice white shirt and well-cut trousers. Tee shirts and polo shirts are not all equal. Some can make one look fabulous- others, rather ordinary. I’m probably a typical guy when it comes to wardrobe. ‘Good enough’ is my approach. And I never considered seeking an expert to work with me. I’m now converted.

My sessions were a combination of practical guidance, raising my awareness and coaching. I never felt patronised and came away feeling I’d learned a lot. Jan makes one feel seen and heard. I’ve now thinned out my wardrobe (charity shops have benefitted) and am planning to buy a small number of ‘posh’ togs to create well matching sets for lunches and evenings out. I now know where to shop, prices and what to avoid. Magic.”

“Until this year, I really didn’t take any interest in my clothes. Clothes shopping was an extreme rarity. Unsurprisingly, the ‘collection’ was rather old and somewhat random. This had started to trouble me, or at least in the back of my mind. So, I decided to enlist Jan’s support in sorting the situation out.

We had great fun. Jan came and did a ‘colour-matching’ (what colours would suit me). Then we had a proper rootle through everything I’d got. It turned out some was actually quite good, some needed some TLC, some was definitely destined for the charity shop (sadly) and some was even resurrected from the back cupboards to see the light of day again after years. She worked out what would go with what, according to the new colour scheme, and where the gaps were.

Jan had done a whole lot of style research on what ‘look’ I was looking for. While I would obviously want to look as smart as King Felipe of Spain, in fact I just needed some proper classic casual clothes. So, Jan took me off to some shops that we had decided would be promising. She had made all the arrangements with the store managers in advance, so that everything was ready on arrival at various places – which was a blessing for one who really doesn’t do clothes shopping usually. And I came away with a most satisfactory haul. In some cases, Jan even went back to collect the correct size item which hadn’t been available on our shopping trip. Then she came round to do the final styling.

The result has been great. The ‘new look’ has passed the test of family and friends, who have been entirely approving and perhaps somewhat amused. And the experience throughout was great. I was very well looked after and would highly recommend the experience with Jan.”
